Mountains Without Barriers

MOUNTAINS WITHOUT BARRIERS
(USA) Director: Michael Brown
Documentary, English, 24 minutes

SYNOPSIS
The opening scene of Mountains Without Barriers begins as a straightforward climbing story. What isn’t immediately obvious is that the two of the three climbers, Erik Weihenmayer and Andy Holzer, are blind and the third, Hugh Herr, is a double-leg amputee. They are participating in the No Barriers Festival, which seeks to improve quality of life through spirit and technology. The festival creates opportunities for people with disabilities to learn new skills and to exchange ideas and dreams with those who create the technologies to assist them… ‘Seeing is believing, but a greater reality is that believing is seeing,’ says Weihenmayer.
